ROUTINE DENTAL CHECK-UP
A check-up allows your dentist to see if you have any dental problems and helps you keep your mouth healthy. Leaving problems untreated could make them more difficult to treat in the future, so it's best to deal with problems early, or, if possible, prevent them altogether.
Your dentist will suggest when you should have your next check-up based on how good your oral health is. The time between check-ups can vary from three months to two years depending on how healthy your teeth and gums are and your risk of future problems.

CROWN
A crowns is a cap used to cover over a tooth that may be broken or decayed to strengthen or improve the cosmetic appearance of the tooth. Crowning is a popular procedure.
Types of dental crowns:
- Metal crown can be made of gold alloy, palladium, nickel alloy or chromium alloy. Metal
crowns are ideal for use on the back teeth.
- Full porcelain crowns look like normal teeth and are ideal for use on the front teeth.
- Porcelain fused to metal crowns are stronger and cheaper than full ceramic crowns
however may not be very aesthetic for the front tooth/teeth.
Depending on the condition of the tooth, a root canal may be necessary before placing a dental crown on the tooth. The dentist will then trim the tooth down to make room for the crown. An impression of the tooth and the surrounding teeth will then be made to fabricate a crown. An acrylic crown will be put on the tooth in the meantime as a temporary measure. The permanent crown is put in place during a follow up visit.

BRIDGE
A dental bridge is an appliance used to fill a gap from a missing tooth. You can greatly enhance the appearance of your teeth and get a beautiful smile with dental bridging.
Types of dental bridges:
- Traditional bridges consist of two crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap with a false
tooth in between.
- Cantilever bridges are used when there are teeth on only one side of the gap.
- Maryland bonded bridges are made up of a porcelain tooth supported by metal
framework (wing) cemented on each side of the adjacent teeth.
The dentist begins bridgework by filing down the teeth to accommodate the crowns. Impressions of the teeth are made to create the dental crowns. The false tooth (or teeth) will then be bonded to the crowns. The bridge will be put in place during a follow up visit.

TEETH WHITENING
Teeth whitening has become one of the most popular ways to enhance your smile. At Klinik Pergigian Shah Alam, we offer a range of teeth whitening options and our dentist will provide you with all the facts you need to make an informed decision about your teeth.
Whitening of the teeth is performed for patients who desire a brighter smile. Tooth whitening can be performed to reduce discolouration and staining, or simply to provide the patient with whiter, brighter teeth. One visit is usually all it takes for a bright smile.

COMPOSITE / WHITE FILLINGS
A composite filling is a tooth-colored plastic and glass mixture used to restore decayed teeth. Composites are also used for cosmetic improvements of the smile by changing the color of the teeth or reshaping disfigured teeth.
Following preparation, the dentist places the composite in layers, typically using a light specialized to harden each layer. When the process is finished, the dentist will shape the composite to fit the tooth. The dentist then polishes the composite to prevent staining and early wear.
Here at Klinik Pergigian Shah Alam, we provide both anterior and posterior filling.

DENTURE
Dentures, also known as false teeth, are prosthetic devices constructed to replace missing teeth; they are supported by the surrounding soft and hard tissues of the oral cavity. Conventional dentures are removable. However, there are many different denture designs, some which rely on bonding or clasping onto teeth or dental implants.
There are two main categories of dentures, the distinction being whether they are used to replace missing teeth on the mandibular arch or on the maxillary arch.

EXTRACTIONS
A dental extraction is the removal of a tooth from the mouth. Extractions are performed for a wide variety of reasons, including tooth decay that has destroyed enough tooth structure to render the tooth non-restorable. Extractions of impacted or problematic wisdom teeth are routinely performed, as are extractions of some permanent teeth to make space for orthodontic treatment. Wisdom teeth surgery /complicated dental surgeries are performed by our specialist oral & maxillofacial surgeon and generally takes an average of 30 minutes or less for removal of one tooth.
The procedure is usually done after a local anaesthetic injection. Some people also have a sedative to help them relax. Your dentist will advise you on after care to help the healing process.

ENDODONTICS (Coming Soon)
Endodontic treatment is required when the inside of a tooth becomes infected or inflamed due to decay or trauma.
The procedure involves the endodontist removing the source of infection by cleaning and shaping the space inside the root and then filling it to avoid future infection. Local anaesthesia is provided to ensure patient comfort, and the entire procedure may take up to two to three visits depending on the case. Posterior endo is much difficult to perform by your dentist as compare to anterior endo.
We will provide all these endo treatment in the future.
